from Agrate Conturbia to Bellinzago Novarese

Description

Located in the Ticino Park (of which eleven municipalities in the province of Novara are part) Borgo Ticino is the starting point of our journey. Not far from Agrate Conturbia, home to the Peat Bog Animal Park, the territory of Borgo Ticino houses the Nature Reserve of Bosco Solivo characterized by forest vegetation (pine and chestnut) as well as stone carvings and various species of wildlife. Heading south we stop at Varallo Pombia home to an archaeological museum, as well as that of the elegant Villa Soranzo, after which we reach the town of Oleggio, along with Mezzomerico (City of Wine) of the Novara Hills. Then we visit the Basilica of St. Michael and Palazzo Bellini. We end our tour with Bellinzago Novarese where every year in January, the feast of the San Giulio Bean Fair is celebrated at the Abbey of Dulzago, a religious community founded in the 12th century by the Augustinians and transformed in the 16th century into an agricultural center, a splendid example of rural archeology. Of great interest is the Baraggia Bellinzago WWF Oasis, rich in biodiversity.
