National quality system for animal welfare
Introduction
The National quality system for animal welfare is a voluntary quality regime recognized by the Member State and open to all producers, which certifies the breeding phase of animals intended for food production by defining the processes and animal health and welfare requirements according to criteria higher than those already defined by current European and national standards.
Certified entities undertake to guarantee animal health and welfare requirements and undertake to reduce the use of antibiotics and to guarantee, in general, greater sustainability of farming.
This is a product/process certification that is issued by accredited bodies UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17065 in compliance with EC Regulation 765/2008.
The certification body that intends to operate within the SQNBA must be in possession of a valid accreditation certificate and registered in the list of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF).
By consulting the ClassyFarm IT platform (the information system of the Ministry of Health managed by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Lombardy and Emilia Romagna), the organization can directly verify whether or not the operator requesting certification has satisfied the requirements. legislative requirements for access to the accredited certification process for primary production operators (species, production orientation and breeding method, defined in the specifications and substantially attributable to the macro areas of animal welfare, biosafety standards and correct use of the drug).
